Hi, my 7 year old niece is suffering from typhoid with a high fever of 103 to 104 degree. Today her blood report shows a hemoglobin count of 5.9. The pediatrician has given sodium drips and injections to lower the fever, but it is still 101 degree a few hours ago. I am very concerned about the low hemoglobin count. Please suggest immediate action?

Hb 5.9 is critically low. Needs pediatric hematology consult. Likely iron deficiency or anemia of inflammation. May need iron therapy or transfusion.
Dr. Dhankecha Suggests...
Take a CBC Test (Complete Blood Count) Test or Take a Iron Studies Test Test

The fever subsided on the 5th day but returned on the 6th day, with the child head and body feeling very hot and temperatures above 101F. After taking Paracetamol 250 mg, the temperature temporarily reduced, but it rises again after about 6 hours.
