Hi, my 7 year old niece is suffering from typhoid with a high fever of 103 to 104 degree. Today her blood report shows a hemoglobin count of 5.9. The pediatrician has given sodium drips and injections to lower the fever, but it is still 101 degree a few hours ago. I am very concerned about the low hemoglobin count. Please suggest immediate action?

Hb 5.9 is critically low. Needs pediatric hematology consult. Likely iron deficiency or anemia of inflammation. May need iron therapy or transfusion.
Dr. Dhankecha Suggests...
Take a CBC Test (Complete Blood Count) Test or Take a Iron Studies Test Test

View allLast month I got sick with a mild sore throat followed by high fever. I started taking antibiotics for the sore throat, but the fever and body pain continued. After a week, my doctor did a Widal test, which was positive, and prescribed Cyproxin for 2 weeks, suspecting typhoid. I felt better during treatment, but only for one week after stopping the antibiotics, and now I am sick again with low body temperature (36.2C) and fatigue. Other tests including CBC, thyroid, kidney, malaria, and liver function are normal. What could be causing my recurring illness, and what should I do?

My mother has been having fever for the past 33 days. When she takes medication, the fever temporarily goes away, but it returns after some time. She also has diabetes and thyroid issues and is experiencing significant body pain. Her recent test report indicates typhoid fever. How can we effectively treat this, and are there any further tests we should consider?
