Last month I got sick with a mild sore throat followed by high fever. I started taking antibiotics for the sore throat, but the fever and body pain continued. After a week, my doctor did a Widal test, which was positive, and prescribed Cyproxin for 2 weeks, suspecting typhoid. I felt better during treatment, but only for one week after stopping the antibiotics, and now I am sick again with low body temperature (36.2C) and fatigue. Other tests including CBC, thyroid, kidney, malaria, and liver function are normal. What could be causing my recurring illness, and what should I do?

Symptoms may suggest unresolved typhoid or post infection fatigue. Low grade symptoms after antibiotics can persist. Widal false positives are common. Repeat Blood Culture, CRP, ESR, and Typhidot IgM to confirm. Stay hydrated, take light food, rest well.
Dr. Dhankecha Suggests...
Take a C-REACTIVE PROTEIN (CRP) - QUANTITATIVE Test or Take a TYPHIDOT IgG AND IgM Test

View allRespected Sir/Madam, I am having mild fever and weakness along with pain in the calf and lower back. At times I also experience headache, sweating, and feeling cold. Today I got my test done. I have already completed a 5 day course of antibiotics but I still feel feverish. My test report shows that I am Widal positive weakly and my LFT results are SGPT 128 and SGOT 73. I have attached the report. Kindly suggest what should be done.

My blood report says Salmonella typhi O 1:80 dilution positive, Salmonella typhi H 1:80 dilution positive. What does this mean?

I had a fever last week (not continuous) along with a slight, constant headache for 3 to 4 days. After the fever broke, I did a blood test at a private clinic the next day. The Widal test report showed 1/160 Typhi O positive. The doctor prescribed Rabasec D SR, Cefixime, and Ofloxacin for 10 days, saying it was a slight case of typhoid. Is this treatment appropriate?
