My 8 month old niece has had a persistent fever for the past 2 weeks. It normalizes when given antipyretics but recurs every 8 to 10 hours. She has a normal diet but sometimes skips meals. She has also vomited 2 to 3 times. A blood test report showed a high lymphocyte count of 58. She traveled about 400 km last week, although comfortably. Could this affect her condition? What could be the reason, and what do you suggest? Thank you in advance.

A high lymphocyte count usually points to a viral infection, which is common in children. Since the fever persists for two weeks, further evaluation is needed to rule out other causes. Consult a pediatrician soon.
