My 8 month old niece has had a persistent fever for the past 2 weeks. It normalizes when given antipyretics but recurs every 8 to 10 hours. She has a normal diet but sometimes skips meals. She has also vomited 2 to 3 times. A blood test report showed a high lymphocyte count of 58. She traveled about 400 km last week, although comfortably. Could this affect her condition? What could be the reason, and what do you suggest? Thank you in advance.

Hi, I am 5 months pregnant with my first baby. In my recent blood test, my platelet count has risen to 700,000, and my WBC is 11,200, which seems high. My doctor has advised me to do PT, APTT, INR, and Hb electrophoresis and to consult a hematologist. This is the first time my platelet count has been elevated, my last report was completely normal. My baby is 1.6 years old. Last week, he had fever, cold, and cough. Now, the fever has subsided and he only coughs occasionally, but I have noticed that he is more cranky than usual and sleeps a lot.
