My TSH level in the recent report is 4.86. I would like to know if this means I have hypothyroidism. Also, should I go for a retest to confirm the result?

A TSH of 4.86 is slightly above normal. It may suggest mild hypothyroidism, but this is not confirmed unless Free T3 and T4 are also low. Retesting in 4 to 6 weeks is helpful to see the trend before starting medication.
Dr. Yusuf Suggests...
Take a Thyroid - Free FT3, FT4 & TSH Test Test or Take a THYROID PEROXIDASE ANTIBODIES (ANTI MICROSOMAL ANTIBODIES) Test

View allHello Doctor. I have been under medication for thyroid for the last 5 years. I am taking Thyronorm 25 mcg regularly. I have not done any tests in the past one year. As per the last test report done in February, the results were Serum Free T3 2.35 pg/ml, Serum Free T4 1.21 ng/dl, and Serum TSH 1.10 uIU/ml. Please advice?

I wanted to ask if it is possible to have hypothyroidism even when thyroid levels appear normal. My recent test results show T3 at 130, T4 at 9.71, and TSH at 1.23, all within the normal range. However, I am experiencing several symptoms such as brain fog, anxiety, slowed thinking, extreme laziness, and memory issues. Could these symptoms still be related to a thyroid issue despite the normal lab values?

I am taking Thyronorm 75 mg for thyroid. In my current thyroid blood report, T3 is 86 ng/dl, T4 is 6 ng/dl, and TSH is 10.65 nIU/ml. My TSH is high. What should I do to control TSH, and do I need to increase my tablet from 75 mg to 100 mg? I am also very lean. Is this due to thyroid? Please suggest how I can gain some weight?
