Respected Doctors, I have been diagnosed with proctosigmoiditis. Can it lead to cancer in the future without treatment? I do not have any symptoms. Should I worry about this? Some doctors say it is only piles, while others say it is proctosigmoiditis. Please provide a correct and genuine answer. I am attaching my colonoscopy report.

Proctosigmoiditis is inflammation of the rectum and sigmoid colon, and it is not the same as piles. If left untreated, chronic inflammation can increase the risk of complications, though cancer risk is usually with long standing severe disease. A repeat colonoscopy with biopsy may help confirm diagnosis. Please follow up with a gastroenterologist.
