Can a normal healthy person take isabgol every day? I deal with chronic diarrhea and I've been taking 2 teaspoons of isabgol mixed with lemon and water every morning. Is this okay? I'm a bit worried if there are any side effects from using isabgol for a long time, like over a few years. What do you think?

  1. What Is Isabgol and How It Works
Isabgol (psyllium husk) is a natural fiber supplement that helps regulate bowel movements by absorbing water and forming a gel-like substance.

  2. Use of Isabgol for Chronic Diarrhea
Isabgol can help manage diarrhea by absorbing excess water in the intestines, improving stool consistency.

  3. Safety of Daily Long-Term Use
Generally safe for daily use in healthy adults. Ensure adequate water intake to prevent constipation or blockage.

  4. Potential Side Effects and Precautions
Possible side effects include bloating, gas, or allergic reactions. Monitor symptoms and consult a healthcare provider if issues arise.

  5. When to Seek Medical Advice
See a doctor if diarrhea persists despite isabgol use, or if there are signs of dehydration or other concerning symptoms.

  6. Additional Recommendations
Consider evaluation for underlying causes of chronic diarrhea. Isabgol should be part of a broader management plan under medical guidance.

I've been dealing with this pressure in my head for quite a while now, and it usually flares up a couple of hours after I eat, especially in the afternoon. I notice my stomach bloats during these times, and it feels somewhat better once I pass gas or have a bowel movement, but that head pressure is really what's bothering me. It's mostly on the right side of my head, although sometimes I feel it on the left too. Ive seen a bunch of doctors, like psychiatry and Gastro Endocrinologist specialists, but I dont have any issues with my stomach or stools. I just can't figure out what's causing this, and it's really stressing me out. Do you have any thoughts on what it could be or what I should do next?

Based on your symptoms, it sounds like you may be experiencing symptoms of migraine headaches triggered by food intake and associated with gastrointestinal symptoms. I recommend trying a combination medication like Sumatriptan and Naproxen (brand name Suminat-NT) for relief of your migraine symptoms. The usual dosage is one tablet at the onset of symptoms, followed by another tablet if needed after 2 hours, not exceeding two tablets in 24 hours. Additionally, you may benefit from taking Simethicone (brand name Colicaid) to help with the bloating and gas symptoms. The usual dosage is 40mg to 180mg taken orally after meals and at bedtime as needed. It is important to consult with a healthcare professional before starting any new medication regimen.

I'm wondering how I can tell if I have worms in my stomach. Sometimes it really feels like something's moving in there. What could be causing this sensation?

Feeling something moving inside your stomach could be a sign of a parasitic infection such as intestinal worms. To treat this, you can take Albendazole 400mg as a single dose. It is important to consult a doctor for proper diagnosis and treatment plan.
