Can a normal healthy person take isabgol every day? I deal with chronic diarrhea and I've been taking 2 teaspoons of isabgol mixed with lemon and water every morning. Is this okay? I'm a bit worried if there are any side effects from using isabgol for a long time, like over a few years. What do you think?

  1. What Is Isabgol and How It Works
Isabgol (psyllium husk) is a natural fiber supplement that helps regulate bowel movements by absorbing water and forming a gel-like substance.

  2. Use of Isabgol for Chronic Diarrhea
Isabgol can help manage diarrhea by absorbing excess water in the intestines, improving stool consistency.

  3. Safety of Daily Long-Term Use
Generally safe for daily use in healthy adults. Ensure adequate water intake to prevent constipation or blockage.

  4. Potential Side Effects and Precautions
Possible side effects include bloating, gas, or allergic reactions. Monitor symptoms and consult a healthcare provider if issues arise.

  5. When to Seek Medical Advice
See a doctor if diarrhea persists despite isabgol use, or if there are signs of dehydration or other concerning symptoms.

  6. Additional Recommendations
Consider evaluation for underlying causes of chronic diarrhea. Isabgol should be part of a broader management plan under medical guidance.

I haven't been able to pass stool for four days and it's getting really painful. Yesterday, I realized it's become too hard and won't pass through my rectum. I tried using a suppository but it didn't help, then I had some cremafin syrup and now only a tiny, hard stool comes out with a lot of pain and water. It's unbearable and I'm really struggling. I've never dealt with anything like this before. I'm considering going to the hospital for an enema but I'm also on my period, so I'm kind of worried about that too. Could you give me some advice on what I should do?

Given your severe constipation, painful bowel movements, and failure of suppositories and Cremafin syrup, consider visiting the hospital for further treatment, despite being on your period, as the medical staff can take necessary precautions; enema or other medical interventions like manual removal of stool or prescription medications may be necessary to relieve your symptoms; meanwhile, stay hydrated, apply warm compresses to your abdomen, and avoid straining during bowel movements to minimize discomfort.

I'm curious about something regarding Daflon. I took it for about two weeks when I had hemorrhoids, and it really helped. Now that I'm all better, I'm wondering if I can take Daflon again if my hemorrhoids flare up later on. Are there any specific precautions or guidelines I should keep in mind when it comes to the dosage?

My mom has multiple gallstones with the biggest one at 15mm, and the doctor wants us to control her diabetes for 12 months before surgery. There's also a 43cm cyst in her right adnexa, but the doctor said removing it isn't urgent and could be too expensive to do along with the gallbladder surgery. He mentioned the cyst has a low chance of causing issues later. Should we still push to remove the cyst now or is it okay to leave it?

If the cyst is simple and asymptomatic, it’s okay to monitor it; focus on stabilizing diabetes first before combining surgeries.
