Does taking Vitamin D3 (cholecalciferol) 60,000 IU two weeks before a Vitamin D test affect the test results?
Answered by 1 Apollo Doctors
Taking 60,000 IU cholecalciferol within 2 weeks can raise serum levels temporarily and affect test accuracy. Its best to wait at least 4 to 6 weeks after stopping supplements before retesting Vitamin D to assess baseline level accurately. You should retest only after the washout period for reliable results.

Is 25(OH) Vitamin D the same as Vitamin D3? My recent report shows 25(OH) Vitamin D is 55.90. Eight months ago, my Vitamin D3 level was 13, and I took Vitamin D3 60,000 IU once a week for 3 months. I started taking it again for the past 1 month. Should I continue taking Vitamin D3 60,000 IU or stop now? Also, my current Vitamin B12 level is 494. Should I continue the B12 tablets or stop them?
