Hi, how can typhoid be treated at the 2nd stage? The Widal test was done, and the titre count is 320. She has been suffering from fever, cough, and cold for the past week. Initially, we thought it might be a common viral fever and consulted a doctor, but after the symptoms persisted, we got blood tests done yesterday for Dengue, malarial parasite, and Widal for typhoid.

A Widal titre of 1:320 suggests typhoid, but this test alone is not definitive. If symptoms continue, treatment with appropriate antibiotics (like Cefixime or Azithromycin) as prescribed by your doctor is needed for typhoid at this stage. Ensure adequate hydration, light food, and complete bed rest. There is no vaccination during active typhoid infection; typhoid vaccines are used later for prevention after recovery. You can book a CBC and Liver Function Test (LFT) to monitor during treatment and share the reports with your doctor.

View allI have done a Widal test, and the results are positive: S. Typhi O is 1:160 and S. Typhi H is 1:80. I am not having any fever at the moment. Are these values considered high, medium, or low? How long will it take to recover, and could you please suggest any appropriate treatment or medicines?

My daughter, a 7 year 5 month old girl, has been suffering from high fever for the past week. Yesterday, we did blood tests. Widal Test Report: S. Typhi O: 1:320 (Positive) S. Typhi H: 1:320 (Positive) S. Para Typhi AH: 1:320 (Negative) S. Para Typhi BH: 1:320 (Negative) Other Tests: Malaria Antigen (Rapid, whole blood): Negative Dengue IgG: Negative Dengue IgM: Negative Dengue NS1 Antigen: Negative Is this typhoid infection severe, moderate, or mild? What treatment should we follow? Does she need hospitalization? Are there any common medicines to take and any recommended changes in food and water habits?
