I've been diabetic for 10 years and my doctor recently told me to lose weight because my diabetes is worsening. Would weight loss surgery help control my diabetes better? What are the potential risks if I decide to go for it?
Weight loss surgery can be helpful in obese diabetic patients. Most of our patients were able to come off their diabetes medications following weight loss. It is difficult to comment on whether you would benefit from weight loss surgery as i do not have any details about the type of your diabetes, medications and your weight. You may want to consult a qualified diabetologist.
