I'm a bit worried because I've been on Cyproheptadine and Dexamethasone to help with weight gain, but every time I stop taking them, I start losing weight and my appetite just drops. I'm not sure what to do about it. Do you have any suggestions for how I can manage this?

Air Crack in Left Hand: POP vs. Roll Bandage
Present Treatment
- Plaster of Paris (POP) bandage: Currently, you have a POP bandage to immobilize the affected area.
- Roll bandage: You're considering switching to a roll bandage for support.
Recommendations
- Consult your doctor: Before making any changes, consult your doctor to determine the best course of treatment.
- POP bandage benefits: POP bandages provide excellent immobilization, which is crucial for proper healing.
- Roll bandage limitations: Roll bandages may not provide sufficient support or immobilization for an air crack.
When to Consider a Roll Bandage
- Doctor's advice: If your doctor recommends switching to a roll bandage, it's likely because the initial healing process is complete.
- Pain management: If you're experiencing minimal pain, a roll bandage might be sufficient for support.
Next Steps
- Schedule a follow-up appointment: Consult your doctor to assess the healing progress and determine the best course of treatment.

View allMy mom has been struggling with thyroid issues and her doctors are recommending surgery. I'm really worried is surgery absolutely necessary in her case? How long might the recovery take if she goes through with it? Also, could you share some dos and don'ts she should follow right now to manage her condition better?
Thyroid surgery is needed for large goiters or cancer; recovery takes 2–3 weeks—follow meds, rest, and avoid strain.

Just found out I have hypothyroidism with normal T3 and T4 but TSH at 24. My doctor started me on thyroxine 100mcg. I need to get a dental surgery done with local anesthesia soon should I wait until my TSH levels are normal or can I go ahead with the procedure now?
It's generally recommended to wait for TSH levels to normalize before undergoing dental procedures with local anesthesia, as hypothyroidism can affect the body's response to anesthesia and other drugs. Waiting for TSH levels to normalize allows the thyroid hormone levels to stabilize and improves the overall management of the condition
