I'm experiencing this on-and-off burning sensation near my lower left rib. It feels just like a hot burning thing going on, especially when I'm lying down. It's so strange because when I'm busy with work or moving around, there's no pain at all, but as soon as I lie down, that hot feeling pops up near my left rib towards the back. It's been two weeks already! I'm not in pain, more like a discomfort really, as the left side aches near the lower rib with this heat thing happening. Any idea what this could be and how I could maybe get rid of it?

View allI'm a bit worried about the medication I'm taking. I've been on Metolar XR 25 for about 15 years now, and I've developed ulcerative colitis. I'm starting to wonder if there's a chance the Metolar could be causing it. Should I think about switching to something else?
Metolar XR 25 contains Metoprolol, which is a beta-blocker used to treat high blood pressure and chest pain. It is generally well-tolerated, but in some cases, it can exacerbate gastrointestinal issues such as ulcerative colitis. Considering your history of ulcerative colitis, it may be prudent to switch to a different medication that is less likely to aggravate your condition. I recommend consulting your doctor for a suitable alternative such as Atenolol 25mg once daily.

I've recently been dealing with concern after recovering from dengue. My platelets had dropped to 26,000, and I had to get a platelet transfusion. At the time, I was feeling okay, but now I'm experiencing some different symptoms. Sometimes, I get this burning sensation in my stomach and out of the blue, my heart starts hurting. It doesn't really match the typical signs of heart pain, but it bothers me. Also, during dengue, my gallbladder was distended, but it's back to normal now. Should I be worried about these new symptoms? What could be causing them?
It sounds like you may be experiencing some gastrointestinal issues and possible heart-related symptoms after recovering from dengue fever. The burning sensation in your stomach could be due to gastritis or acid reflux. I recommend taking a proton pump inhibitor like Omeprazole 20mg once daily before breakfast to help with the stomach burning. As for the sudden heart pain, it is important to rule out any cardiac issues. You can take a low dose of Aspirin 81mg daily to help with any potential heart-related pain. It is also important to continue monitoring your platelet levels and overall health. If the symptoms persist or worsen, please consult with your healthcare provider for further evaluation and management.
