I've just found out I have H. pylori and started the HP kit today. But now I'm feeling super hungry all the time after taking it. Do you have any advice on how I can manage this?

I'm hoping for some advice on a couple of habits I've had since I was a kid. I've been eating slate pencil since I was in 4th grade, and now that I'm 23, I'm wondering if that's harmful. Also, every now and then, I find myself eating raw rice. Are there any risks with that? On top of all this, I've been dealing with a pretty severe problem of piles. Could these habits be making my condition worse? Would love to get some insights on this.

I'm a 31-year-old woman considering laparoscopic surgery to remove just my gallstones without taking out the gallbladder. Will I be okay long-term or is it better to remove the whole gallbladder? Also, could this cause any issues if I have a second pregnancy later?

Removing just the gallstones without the gallbladder is generally discouraged, as the gallbladder is not vital, and removing it can lead to a simpler, more straightforward procedure. While you can live with the gallbladder and just remove the stones, studies show that removal of the gallbladder is the most reliable long-term solution for gallstones. Furthermore, removing the gallbladder doesn't pose long-term problems for women, and it is unlikely to cause any issues with future pregnancies

I'm 50 years old and just got my bilirubin test results back. The total is 2.4 and direct is 1.1. I'm really worried. Is this considered very high? What should I do next?

Your bilirubin test results, with a total bilirubin of 2.4 mgdL and direct bilirubin of 1.1 mgdL, are slightly elevated, but not alarmingly high, as the normal range is typically 0.1-1.2 mgdL for direct bilirubin and 0.2-1.3 mgdL for total bilirubin, so consult your doctor to discuss potential causes, such as liver inflammation, bile duct obstruction, or hemolysis, and determine the best course of action.
