I've just gotten over a really bad cold that lasted all week, and now I'm noticing that whenever I breathe in, it feels like I'm inhaling really cold air, which makes me cough. What could be causing this, and should I be worried?

My wife is six months pregnant and she's been struggling with a persistent cough and cold since her first month. We've been seeing her gynecologist regularly and they've given us some medicine, but it only offers temporary relief. Recently, the gynecologist advised us to consult a pulmonologist. I'm just concerned and wondering if it's safe for her to take allergy medication at this stage of her pregnancy. Any recommendations on what kind of treatment the pulmonologist might suggest?
