My 25 hydroxy vitamin D value is 10.4 ng/ml. According to the lab report, the minimum should be 20 ng/ml. I have to remain mostly indoors due to the nature of my job. Please suggest the daily dosage of vitamin D and the duration of medication required to attain and maintain normal levels.

With levels this low, start Vitamin D3 60,000 IU once a week for 8 weeks, then once monthly. Also, get sunlight for 15 to 20 mins daily. Maintain with 800 to 1000 IU/day orally if levels normalize.
