My dad, who's 60, has been prescribed Azee 500 three times a week on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday for his COPD, along with some other inhalers. I think Azee 500 is an antibiotic, but I'm worried if it's alright to take an antibiotic for as long as 3 months. Could you shed some light on this?

Azee 500 (Azithromycin) is an antibiotic, and while it's typically used for short-term treatment, long-term use can sometimes be necessary for chronic conditions like COPD to prevent bacterial infections. However, extended use should be monitored closely by a doctor to avoid side effects like resistance or disruption of gut bacteria. Its essential to follow the prescribed regimen and attend regular check-ups.

View allI'm really concerned about my health and could use some advice. Over the past 10 months, I've been having issues with sticky sputum and left side chest pain. And just recently, I noticed blood in my sputum along with pain under my armpit. I've lost around 12 kgs too, which is worrying me even more. I've done quite a few tests, like a CT scan, a heart echo test, and even a sputum AFB and Mantoux test, but they all came back normal. I also checked with a CT thorax with contrast and had a couple of chest X-rays, all normal. Blood tests like sugar, urea, creatinine, CBC, and a seroconversion test were negative too. I'm not sure what's going on, and I'm really anxious about it all. Can you help me figure out what might be happening or suggest what I should do next?
Physician opinion is advised to the patient.

I'm having a really tough time with my breathing, and recently, I think it might be Phlegm-related. A while back, I had a lot of sugary stuff, and then I started having trouble with this wet cough and lots of Phlegm. My doctor suggested Asthalin AX syrup for this wet cough, and it helped some with the Phlegm. Also, I noticed when I stopped the sweets, the Phlegm kind of stopped too. But even now and then, I still feel like I'm not getting enough air. I've been on some antibiotics for an infection like the Symbiotik capsule, vycor forte tablet, Bethansol tablet, and Asthalin Ax Syrup. I'm really concerned if it's okay to take all these medicines to sort out the shortness of breath because of the Phlegm and the cough. I'm just looking for some advice on how to deal with the short breath due to this cough and Phlegm situation.

I'm worried about the possibility of developing lung fibrosis. I had a CT score of 13 a month ago. Could that score suggest any risk of fibrosis developing later on?
