My mom is 66 years old and has been diagnosed with umbilical hernia and incisional hernia. She's 5'2¬ù and weighs around 83 kg. She's currently on thyroid meds and has had past surgeries like C-section, thyroid, liver abscess, varicose veins, and knee surgery. We saw two doctors one suggested hernia repair with abdominoplasty, while the other recommended open hernia repair using mesh and advised weight loss before surgery since she's overweight. I'm confused about which approach is better for her given her medical history and weight. What would you recommend for her case?

View allIs surgery really needed right away for a mild umbilical hernia strain or can it be managed with meds for now and done later? Could the strain be caused by gastric issues or something else besides bowel movements?

I have a hernia in my upper right groin that seems to be either femoral or inguinal. I really don't want surgery but I've heard it's the only option. The bulge isn't always there it only shows up when there's pressure. Are there any other treatments or remedies that could help heal it? Could homeopathy work for this?
sx opinion.
