Question
My son was born premature and we noticed a bump on his left eyelid when he closes his eyes. Later, he developed a squint, so we tried glasses and patching as the doctor suggested, but he's not cooperating. Now the doctor recommended squint surgery is 1.6 years too early for the procedure? What are the possible side effects or complications we should be aware of?

Squint surgery, especially in young children, carries several potential risks. These include temporary discomfort or pain, infection, bleeding, and scarring. In rare cases, surgery may lead to over or under-correction of the squint, requiring further procedures or vision problems like double vision. Other complications can include damage to surrounding tissues or nerves, affecting eye movement or vision.
