View allI've just got my lab results back, and I'm a bit confused about them. My hba1c level is 5.1, which I know falls within the normal range of 4.6 to 5.6. But my fasting glucose level came back as 108, and I've read that the normal range is usually 70 to 100. What could be the reason behind this?

I'm a 34-year-old male, and I recently checked my random blood sugar level, which came out to be 153. Should I be worried about this? What does it mean for my health?
A random blood sugar level of 153 mgdL is considered elevated, but not necessarily indicative of diabetes; however, it's a red flag, especially for someone as young as 34, and warrants further evaluation, such as a fasting blood sugar test, HbA1c, or an oral glucose tolerance test, to determine if you're at risk for developing insulin resistance, prediabetes, or type 2 diabetes
