What's the most effective way to treat a mucocele and prevent it from coming back would laser surgery work better than a scalpel or are there other options I should consider
Answered by 1 Apollo Doctors
For oral mucoceles, both laser surgery and surgical excision (with a scalpel) can be effective. Laser surgery, like CO2 laser, may offer advantages like minimal scarring, faster healing, and less discomfort, particularly for pediatric patients. However, surgical excision, especially if it includes removal of the surrounding salivary gland and duct, can be very effective in preventing recurrence. The best approach depends on the specific case, the patient's preferences, and the dentist's expertise.
