After pregnancy, my wife developed severe pain in lower bones and back. I consulted a doctor (GYN and OBS) who advised a blood check up. Blood report results show calcium 10.40 mg/dL, TSH by CLIA Serum 3.41 ?IU/mL, Free T4 Serum by CLIA 1.17 ng/dL, Free T3 Serum by CLIA 2.32 pg/mL, 25 Hydroxy (OH) Vitamin D Serum 11.66 ng/mL. She has been prescribed T. Shelcal HD and T. Losmia 60K for 8 weeks. After taking medicine for about 4 weeks, she did not find any relief in the pain. Do I need to take a second opinion on the same or wait for more time? One of my friends advised to ask our doctor for vitamin D3 injection, as it will be very effective. Please advise or guide me. Should I go for a second opinion or ask my doctor for vitamin D3 injection? Please suggest some D3 injections which are good to take and available in the market? Thanks in advance for your suggestions and advice.

Your wifes Vitamin D level is very low (11.66 ng/ml) this is likely the cause of her back and bone pain. The calcium level is normal, but relief may take 6 to 8 weeks. A Vitamin D3 injection (like Cholecalciferol 60000 IU IM) can help faster. Discuss this with your doctor before switching or stopping her oral supplements.
Dr. Hema Suggests...
Take a 25-HYDROXY VITAMIN D (D2+D3) Test or Take a THYROID STIMULATING HORMONE (TSH) Test

View allHello Doctor, My wife has been experiencing heel pain for several days. After a blood test, the doctor informed us that she has low iron and low hemoglobin, and prescribed protein and multivitamin tablets for iron deficiency. She also finds that when she gets up from a chair, she cannot put full weight on her foot, and the heel pain eases after a few steps. Could you please suggest any tablets or treatment for this heel pain?

I am a working woman living alone in Mumbai with rotational shifts (morning, day, and night), so I do not have a consistent routine. Recently, I visited my hometown for almost a month. I saw a general physician who did a full body check-up and tests. My reports are mostly normal, except for Vitamin D deficiency and a small functional cyst in my right ovary. My doctor said this cyst is common in women and usually resolves after 2 to 3 menstrual cycles. I have not had regular periods for the past 7 months. Once, my cycle was delayed by 21 days, but normally the interval is 6 days or longer. I do not have facial hair, but after using a Flawless trimmer for women once, I developed cystic acne, especially around the jawline and smile lines. I also experience mild depression, stress, anxiety, and fatigue. Could you please advise what could be causing these issues, and what steps I should take next?
