Dear Doctor, I recently had a blood test, and some of the parameters seem to be fluctuating. My results are: Gamma GT: 69.6 Vitamin D: 5.7 Total cholesterol: 217.51 LDL (bad cholesterol): 148.27 HDL: 5.49 LDL (another value): 3.74 Non HDL cholesterol: 177.91 SGOT/AST: 48.61 SGPT/ALT: 51.91 I am 5 ft 2 in tall, weigh 72 kg, and I am planning to extend my family in a few months. Could you please advise if I need to be concerned about these results, especially Gamma GT and Vitamin D, and what steps I should take?

GGT suggests mild liver stress; Vitamin D is very low and should be corrected. Start D3 60,000 IU/week and monitor cholesterol.
Dr. Bhanu Suggests...
Take a GGT Test (Gamma Glutamyl Tranferase) Test or Take a Vitamin D Test Test

View allMy 16 year old son has been suffering from high fever (104F) and headache for the past 6 days. Yesterday we consulted a doctor. His CBC and urine reports are normal. Malaria and typhoid tests are negative. Platelet count is 1.75 lakhs, SGOT is 65, and SGPT is 70. The doctor prescribed Dolo 650 (three times a day) and Mahacef Plus (twice a day). The fever temporarily decreases after Dolo but rises back to 104F after 4 hours. What could be the reason for the persistent high fever and the increased SGOT and SGPT? What should be done next?

My doctor told me that I have a weak liver, and that is why I lost 7 kg. But my LFT is normal. Is it possible to still have a weak liver even after a normal LFT test?
