Dear Doctor, please suggest what to do? My husband HDL levels are very low. He was using statins to control triglycerides, which were over 100 and are now 171. I am worried about his HDL levels. His lipid profile shows total cholesterol 118 mg/dl, HDL cholesterol 24 mg/dl, LDL cholesterol 60 mg/dl, triglycerides 171 mg/dl, TC/HDL cholesterol ratio 4.9, LDL/HDL ratio 2.5, VLDL cholesterol 34.2 mg/dl, and non-HDL cholesterol 93.6 mg/dl.

HDL (good cholesterol) is low at 24 aim is above 40 mg/dL for men. Triglycerides have improved with statins thats a good sign. Low HDL can be improved with regular walking, nuts, olive oil, and quitting smoking if applicable. Statins dont directly increase HDL. Repeat lipid profile every 6 months to track progress. Consider getting an LFT also done to check the liver function.

View allMy blood report shows raised cholesterol values. Total cholesterol 221, triglycerides 224, LDL 159, VLDL 44.8, HDL 35. Is there any need for medicine for these values?

My brother, Dhrub Kumar, has very high cholesterol and triglyceride levels according to his recent blood test. I am attaching the report for your reference. Kindly guide us on how to lower his cholesterol and triglycerides through diet, lifestyle, or treatment.

Hi, I recently had a blood test, and the results show: Slightly higher levels of LDL Cholesterol (Direct), Triglycerides, HbA1c, and High Sensitivity C Reactive Protein (hs CRP) Slightly lower levels of Monocytes (Absolute Count) and Mean Corpuscular Hemoglobin Concentration (MCHC) I would like a holistic analysis of these results and recommendations based on my report. If any further tests are needed, I am willing to get them done. Also, I am unsure whether I should consult a General Physician or a Dietician/Nutrition Specialist.
