I visited the hospital this morning and received my lab report. It shows that my Salmonella typhi H antibody titer is 1:40.

Titre of 1:40 is a weak positive. Could be early or past infection. If symptomatic, treatment may be started. Blood culture gives a clearer diagnosis.

Is it typhoid fever or a normal fever? Please do not ask me to consult a doctor. Please check the attached reports. Thanks in advance.

My brother was diagnosed with typhoid two days ago, but we only got to know today after his blood report confirmed it. We have been in close contact with him. What are the chances that we might also get typhoid? If there is a risk, is there any precautionary medicine we can take to avoid falling ill?
