Dr Rajeshwari Nayak is a highly skilled and experienced interventional cardiologist with expertise in complex coronary interventions, heart failure, echocardiography, and device therapies. She is also certified in renal denervation (RDN) therapy. With 24 years of excellent clinical and interventional experience, Dr Nayak completed her undergraduate training from Govt Medical College Bellary. She then obtained National Board certification in General Medicine and Cardiology from Apollo Hospitals, Chennai, where she trained under renowned mentors and teachers. Later, she moved to Sydney and acquired a fellowship in heart failure and a fellowship in echocardiography from world-class tertiary care centres, Royal Prince Alfred Hospital and St. Vincent’s Hospital. After sharpening her knowledge and skills, she joined Apollo Hospitals as a consultant cardiologist.

Dr Nayak holds prestigious fellowships from the Royal College of Physicians, Edinburgh (FRCP), American College of Cardiology (FACC), European Society of Cardiology (FESC), and Cardiological Society India (FCSI). She has vast experience in handling critically ill patients and has performed numerous coronary interventions, including left main, chronic total occlusions, and bifurcation interventions. She has also performed mitral valve interventions (PTMC), aortic aneurysm interventions, and device closure of ASD and PDA with excellent results. Dr Nayak is the first female cardiologist from India to perform Robotic angioplasty and also the first female cardiologist from India to appear in an ACC (American College of Cardiology) blog post.

Apart from her clinical practice, Dr Nayak is active as an administrator in the hospital. She holds the position of departmental co-coordinator and co-ordinator for the cardiac critical care unit. She is actively involved in teaching postgraduate students and is the academic coordinator for DNB trainees. She also holds prestigious posts as a member of the drug and therapeutic committee, library committee, and nutritional steering committee.

Dr Nayak has several publications to her credit, and she is an examiner for National Board certification for the cardiology super-speciality course.
