About Dr. Smita Malhotra

Inarguably one of the best paediatric gastroenterologists in Delhi, Dr Smita Malhotra is also experienced in paediatric liver transplantation. She has performed over 250 paediatric liver transplants, a daunting figure by any standard. A renowned doctor in her field, Dr Smita has spoken on many international platforms to share her experience and knowledge about liver diseases in children. Despite her busy schedule, Dr Malhotra still finds time to train 4 paediatricians in paediatric gastroenterology, hepatology, nutrition and liver transplantation every year.

The best gastroenterologist for children in South Delhi, Dr Smita Malhotra treats issues such as GI disorders like celiac disease, malabsorption and acute diarrhoea. Paediatric gastroenterology is a specialized field for treating gastric issues in children. Dr S Malhotra is trained to treat problems like bleeding in the gastrointestinal tract, lactose intolerance, short bowel syndrome, food allergies, GERD, pancreatitis and liver disease.

Kids need specialized care, something a family practitioner is not equipped in treating. She also performs emergency endoscopic services to remove foreign bodies from the GI tract and treat bleeding in the upper and lower GI tract, apart from other child-related maladies.

Infants and kids are vulnerable to infections as they are yet to develop a strong immune system. This makes it vital to get the best treatment for them before the problem increases. Dr Smita says, ‘When you heal a child, you heal the world as these infants are our future.’ Wise words indeed.
