I've been dealing with gallstones and came across a couple of alternative treatments extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy ESWL and methyl tertiary butyl ether MTBE. Are these actually effective compared to gallbladder surgery? I'm a bit worried about going under the knife and wanted to know if these options are safe or worth considering.

While extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy (ESWL) and methyl tert-butyl ether (MTBE) are sometimes considered for gallstones, gallbladder surgery (cholecystectomy) is generally the preferred and most effective treatment for symptomatic gallstones. ESWL and MTBE have limited use and are often not recommended for long-term management due to the high likelihood of stone recurrence.

View allI've been diagnosed with two gallstones 15.4 mm and 13.6 mm in my gallbladder. Is there any way to get rid of them or dissolve them without surgery? I'm really hoping to avoid an operation if possible. What are my options?
If your gallstones are small and you are unable to have surgery, you may be able to dissolve your cholesterol stones by taking ursodiol (Actigall, Urso), a naturally occurring bile acid, two to four times a day. Consult your doctor before taking any medications

I've been noticing fresh blood when I pass stool, and this happens for about four to five days every month. What could be causing this, and are there any effective treatments that don't involve surgery?
Fresh blood with stools for few days each month may indicate hemorrhoids or fissure—non-surgical options include fiber intake, sitz baths, and ointments like nifedipine.

I've been having this pain just above my belly button for about 23 days now. I recently noticed this thick, light yellow puss lightly oozing from my belly button. I'm a bit worried about what might be causing this. Could you advise me on what type of doctor I should see for this issue?
