My wife has been dealing with gall bladder stone pain since February 25th and the stone is 18.3mm in size. Is there any way to dissolve or break it without surgery, especially since she just had a baby 4 months ago and underwent a delivery operation last November? We're really worried about another surgery so soon and want to explore all options first

A gallbladder stone measuring 18.3 mm (or 1.83 cm) is considered large and carries a higher risk of complications compared to smaller stones. While smaller gallstones often pass unnoticed, larger ones, particularly those over 1 cm, can lead to blockages in the bile ducts, inflammation, and potentially require surgical removal. A stone of this size, combined with other factors like composition, location, and underlying medical conditions, should be evaluated by a doctor to assess the individual risk and determine the best course of action

I'm really confused about how long I should wait after recovering from typhoid before I can drink alcohol again. I've been getting conflicting advice from different people. Can you give me a clear and practical answer on this?

It's generally recommended to avoid alcohol for at least 3-6 months after recovering from typhoid to allow your liver and body to fully recover from the infection

I'm a bit concerned about my symptoms over the past few days. I started with a mild fever and took Combiflam to help me sleep. The next day, my fever got worse, so I switched to DOLO. On the third day, the fever was gone, but I began experiencing loose motions, so I took Norflox. By the fourth day, things seemed a little better, and the frequency of the motions reduced. Now, on the fifth day, the frequency is low, but my motions are still loose. Can you offer any advice on what I should do next?

My mom had a heart attack in mid-March and had to get an angioplasty. Right after she came home from the hospital, she's been having constant diarrhea. She's really scared to eat anything because of it. She's dealing with both high blood pressure and diabetes. Do you have any idea what's causing this and how we can help stop the diarrhea?

In this case, it is important to consult with her doctor to rule out any other underlying causes. To help stop the loose motions, she can take a medication called Loperamide (Imodium) 2mg after each loose stool, up to a maximum of 16mg per day. Additionally, she can try taking a probiotic supplement like Saccharomyces boulardii to help restore the balance of good bacteria in her gut. It is also important for her to stay hydrated by drinking plenty of fluids and to eat small, bland meals throughout the day. If the loose motions persist, her doctor may need to adjust her medications or investigate further
